If you’ve been in the market for an Xbox One X over the Black Friday sales period, now is probably the time to strike. Not only are we well into Cyber Monday – the last day of sales festivities – but getting an Xbox One X with four games for £360 is a very special offer indeed.
That’s exactly what Currys are offering right now. Pay £359.99 and you’ll get a bundle including the 1TB 4K-ready console itself (RRP £450), and copies of Forza Horizon 4, Forza Motorsport 7, Tekken 7 and Project Cars 2 .
That’s a very good deal for fans of driving games (you may want to buy a racing wheel to go with them ). Personally, the only driving games I play are Mario Kart and Burnout Paradise, but fortunately, Metacritic is on hand to confirm that every game in this bundle is rated highly. Forza Horizon 4 is at 92/100, while Forza Motorsport 7 isn’t far behind at 86/100. Project Cars 2 averages a rating of 84/100, while the one non-driving game in the bundle, Tekken 7, gets a rating of 81.
You could pay considerably less for an Xbox One S, of course, so is the X worth it? Well, here’s what Vaughn said in his review : “Play Gears of War 4, Super Lucky’s Tale, Forza Motorsport 7 or FIFA 18 side by side with the same titles on a One S and the differences are obvious.
“As with all 4K content, however, there is a catch. And that is that is that, although the smoother gameplay and colours are obvious from any distance, as soon as you sit a reasonable distance away from your TV the extra detail that 4K brings just fades away. Everything looks great sitting in my Ikea armchair a metre away from my 55in Hisense M7000, but as soon as I go to sit on the sofa and play, those differences become less apparent.”
So consider your options. If you have a smaller 4K TV, you may well be better off with an Xbox One S – which has its own appealing set of Cyber Monday offers available too… like this bundle with Battlefield V, Tekken 7 and Project Cars 2 for £179.99 .
